About South West Counselling
We are a not-for-profit organisation
South West Counselling relies on state government funding to subsidise our counselling service. We also receive government and non-government grants for specific programs.
Additional income is generated through affordable counselling fees and the provision of consultancy and other professional services. Our philosophy is to enhance the well-being and safety of individuals, families and children in the South West region of WA.
We are a local team
Fourteen counsellors, psychologists and social workers working from Busselton and Margaret River, alongside local schools, GPs and services. All are registered members of their professional associations.
Counselling needs no referral. Once you send an appointment enquiry form our intake team will call you within a few days to talk through the options and help you decide what suits you best.

Our History
Our history goes back more than 35 years, when a unique model of counselling was first offered to West Australians.
1982
South West Counselling was established under the name Mobile Counselling by social workers George and Willi Smith, with the support of a Board of Management based in Perth.
1980s
In a world first, this not-for-profit organisation brought mobile counselling to the rural and regional areas of West Australia. Mobile Counselling was funded through donations and offered free counselling services to isolated areas in Western Australia, including the Pilbara, Kimberley and the South West. Mobile Counselling travelled to these areas in a camper van that doubled both as counselling space and home for George and Willi Smith.
1994
Mobile Counselling became South West Counselling, with a permanent office established in Busselton. South West Counselling continues to offer counselling services across the South West region and currently has offices based in Busselton and Margaret River.
All counsellors are registered members of their professional associations
