What is counselling?

Counselling provides an opportunity to access professional support to assist you in developing self-understanding and to explore and resolve personal and interpersonal issues.  

How long is a counselling session?

Sessions last for approximately 50-60 minutes

Can I get any money back from Medicare?

SWCI clients are not eligible for the Medicare Rebate, however our fees are subsidised and well below the fees charged for private counselling.

Do you offer evening appointments?

Our Busselton office currently has extended hours on a Thursday evening to cater for clients where work commitments prevent their attendance during regular business hours.

What happens to my information?

Your details are strictly confidential and all information is stored securely. There are however limits to this confidentiality. If there is a serious concern that you may harm yourself or others, we must help you, and we will break your confidentiality if required. If there is any current fear for the safety of a child our duty of care also requires we take some action. If you advise us you have, or intend to commit a serious criminal offence, our duty of care to disclose this applies. We will always endeavour to advise you of any action we may need to take. Apart from these instances everything else you talk to us about will be kept private and confidential.

We are also required to comply with subpoenas issued through the Courts. A conversation will always be held with you where possible prior to any action being taken.

Do I need a referral?

Clients can self refer to the Service - there is no need to obtain a formal referral.
